Banaba extracts have also demonstrated an inhibitory effect on alpha amylase secretion, which may prevent the digestion of complex carbohydrates. Phase 2® Starch Neutralizer is an all-natural, non-stimulant, standardized nutritional ingredient. It is extracted from a fraction of white kidney beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), using a water-based process. - Phase 2® has been shown in an in-vitro study to inhibit the alpha amylase enzyme. Phase 2^® does not prevent the body from producing this particular enzyme. Instead, it works through a binding process, rendering amylase ineffective before it can convert starch into simple sugars (glucose) that are eventually absorbed in the small intestine. - Inhibiting alpha amylase may prevent the digestion of complex carbohydrates, allowing them to pass through the digestive system, resulting in fewer calories absorbed. - A decreased intake of calories potentially promotes weight loss.
